There are two response options, Yes / No, for “Do you have special mobility needs?”. If Yes, the participant is presented with a checklist of aids, with options Not Applicable / Permanent / Temporary. Source: CLSA (main wave v4.0 June 2018).

Responses are discrete options, ranging in steps of ten from 0% (No confidence) to 100% (Completely confident). The overall score is an average across responses, with higher scores indicating better balance. No items are reverse-coded.
